Invitation to workshop on Transnational Company Agreements – 3 July in Berlin

Dear IOE Members and Partners,
The International Training Centre of the ILO (ITC-ILO) and the BDA would like to invite you to the workshop entitled:

"Transnational company agreements: a valuable option for companies to promote social dialogue, CSR policies and human rights in their supply chains?”
Date: Tuesday 3 July

Time: 09.30-16.00

Location: Hotel Courtyard Marriott Berlin Mitte, Berlin (GERMANY)
The meeting is part of a project co-funded by the European Union and carried out by the ITC-ILO in partnership with BDA, CEOE Confindustria, DI, MEDEF, as well as BusinessEurope and the International Organisation of Employers.
At the meeting, participants will have the opportunity to learn and discuss issues linked to
transnational company agreements (TCAs) and human rights in global supply chains, and what they entail for multinational companies. This conversation has become even more prominent since several organisations have developed parallel tools while national laws have emerged such as the UK Modern Slavery Act, the French due diligence act and the Dutch act against child labour. Along the regulatory development, different concepts and ideologies have evolved or been re-positioned to deal with the challenges of handling human rights and decent work in global supply chains. In this context, where CSR policies intersect with international, regional and national initiatives, both soft law and hard law, what is the role and value of TCAs? Why should companies enter in a TCA with a trade union or what are the reasons not to?

Target audience:

  • Private sector companies and employers' organisations only: HR, CSR or sustainability professionals in companies with global supply chains or cross-border activities. Chatham House Rules apply.

Best regards,

Peter Hall
